The Perfect Fishing Machine - Literally Indestructible

The first Ocean Master 31 was built in 1975, and it quickly developed the reputation for being "The Perfect Fishing Machine." With a centerline length of 30'7" and 10'3" of beam, this boat more than substantiates its claim that no other company builds a more stable outboard-powered vessel. This boat is built as well as a boat can be built; it’s literally indestructible. The boat’s solid one-piece fiberglass hull has 20 layers of lamination, making it about 150 percent thicker than the industry standard of 8 layers. A 9 mm slug cannot penetrate the bottom.

Functional Layout

The console on the Ocean Master is extremely functional. It provides enough surface area to accommodate a wide variety of electronic instruments. An access door on the port side leads to a 5-foot 10-inch high storage compartment large enough to house the electrical terminal blocks, a head and additional equipment. The electrical system is neatly laid out, so each wire can be tracked from each instrument down to the terminal block. Each individual wire is distinguishable. Electronically, the 31 is rigged to absolute perfection. If a problem does occur, the simplicity of the wiring technique makes repairs a cinch.

Cockpit

The 90-square foot cockpit provides more than enough room to mount a fighting chair. The forward casting platform provides another 55-square feet of space. A flush deck hatch on the casting platform opens to reveal an amazingly sized fishbox with macerator pump. A unique non-skid deck surface is molded right into all parts of the deck and transom and extends under the gunwale to provide extra tow room. The gunwales are the proper height for serious stand-up fishing.
